Greenspeed and Terra Trikes Products in Australia.

A little over six months ago we reduced our Greenspeed trikes commitment (for various reasons). On Tuesday last week we were formally advised that the official Australian distributor for Greenspeed and Terra Trike products has ceased supporting the Australian dealer network effective immediately.  Dealers have been advised that parts and warranty support requests will not be processed by the (former) distributor and that they are effectively on their own for all support, even though the (former) distributor will continue to import and sell Greenspeed and Terra Trike products on their own behalf.

This puts us and other dealers in a difficult position as business decisions had been made on the basis of “in country” product support and compliance with the Australian Consumer Law.  It is unfortunate that we must now advise that DT Recumbents are unable to source and supply new Greenspeed and Terra Trike products for the foreseeable future.

We will be continuing to offer service, repairs, and modifications on Greenspeed, Terra Trike and a broad range of recumbent brands, but wish to make it plain that the resolution of any warranty claim relating to Greenspeed and Terra Trike products sold by us will be entirely dependent on the response from the USA based companies.

Cargo Quad Version 3

Version 3 of our Cargo Quad is now on the road and in regular use (version 1 was the proof of concept, version 2 was the first customer unit, version 3 is the first complete frame build).  All three are functionally similar but differ in equipment and minor dimension variances.

What’s the most important thing we’ve learnt from the Cargo Quad project?  Simply how convenient it is to cycle to the local shops, drop the acquired goods straight into the load area and cycle home.  All with the expected recumbent comfort and convenience.  Some fruit and cake (a balanced diet of course)?  Straight into the load platform with no squashing.   Bag or two of pool salt?  Garden mix? 20lt paint?  No problem, load it up and go.  And of course e-assist makes it all achievable without being super human.

Not being a “production” model, there are many options available – from running gear to cargo platform size.  Talk to us if it sounds like a cargo quad might be for you!

E-Trikes and Battery Safety

E-bikes and e-mobility is certainly one of the growth areas in local transport options, and unfortunately we are seeing a growing number of fires being attributed to the lithium batteries used in these devices.  World wide there is a growing push for better battery safety standards to try and combat the rising trend in battery fires.  Several international locations have introduced standards for batteries, and more locally New South Wales has recently introduced mandatory standards for the sale of batteries and e-mobility devices.

We are pleased to announce that the batteries we supply with our e-assist kits are sourced from an Australian supplier and contain cells meeting standards UN38.3 for transport and shipping, and IEC62133-2:2017 for in service use, and the chargers meet the required Australian Standard.  Battery and chargers are now supplied with the ST3 plug, a 3 pin plug and socket with shielded contacts to much reduce the sparking when connecting the charger, and to protect the contacts from short circuit during use.

ICE Trikes

We have brought a third ICE trikes demonstrator into our fleet, we now have the Sprint X Tour, Adventure 20, and Adventure HD 20 with rear suspension on hand and ready to test ride.

Each trike is configured slightly differently to showcase some of the many options ICE offer : drum or disc brakes, rigid or suspension frame, traditional derailleur gears or internal gear hub.

ICE trikes can be ordered with a huge range of options including the Shimano STEPS e-assist as a factory installed system.  Local installations of either Bafang or CYC Photon mid drives are also offered.

ICE have also committed to holding their 2024 prices though 2025 and are including a free On The Road pack with each trike.  Make some time to test ride an ICE Trike!

Performer Cycles

Performer are one of the “go to” trike manufacturers with a range of reliable, simple, and great performing (naturally) trikes available.  They are also one of the few making a quality “delta” style trike – the Futuro.  Yes, we have the Futuro here, as well as the JC70 light weight and sporty tadpole style trike.
